Living in London, it's hard to travel throughout the city without seeing someone homeless or looking for shelter, and this is no different throughout the rest of the United Kingdom. It's always heartbreaking to see but even harder during the festive period and the Winter months.
This winter, it will become especially harder for families to stay warm as energy prices and the cost of living goes up, along with the possibility that the UK will gradually enter a recession.
When starting Fable and King up, we always had an idea of how to help those less fortunate or who have fallen into difficult times, so decided a good place to start was to reach out to the oraganisation, Crisis.
Crisis is a nonprofit oraganisation and UK national charity for people experiencing homelessness. The charity offers year-round education, employment, housing, and well-being services from centres in East London, Newcastle, Oxford, Edinburgh, South Yorkshire, Croydon, Brent, and Merseyside, called Crisis Skylight Centres.
As well as year-round services Crisis runs Crisis at Christmas, which since 1972 has been offering food, warmth, companionship, and vital services to homeless people over the Christmas period. In 2016 almost 4,600 homeless people visited Crisis at Christmas, which was run by about 10,500 volunteer
Over the past month or so, we have been in contact with Crisis who were happy for us to get on board and help contribute where we can. So, we have decided that for each T-shirt or Sweater purchased, 10% will go straight to Crisis where the proceeds can help those in need.
Although this is a very small gesture on our part, we will continue to donate to Crisis and we will aim to go further as Fable and King grow throughout the future.
